Cooking Class

I am thinking about taking a Korean cooking class. I suppose learning how to speak Korean should be a bigger priority than learning how to cook Korean food.

It is hard to decide if I like to eat or talk more, I love both. Those two things are really the only things I am good for.

The picture above is the kimchi at Gahm Mi Oak. As many types of kimchis I have had in Seoul, I still crave the kimchi from Gahm Mi Oak on occasion, old habits die hard!

You Guys, We Can't Say Tranny Anymore

From NYMag:

After dinging Glee for using the word "tranny" in last week's Rocky Horror episode, GLAAD just drew an apology from MTV for using the word in the network's Jersey Shore reunion special. GLAAD took offense to a segment where The Situation was confronted for flirting with a club patron of ambiguous gender, "made much worse by both the show’s host and producers," claimed GLAAD, "who intercut with shots of cast member Ronnie Ortiz-Magro wearing a dress and MTV’s own footage of a large man in a bikini and a Halloween mask in an attempt to add more 'humorous' context. Host Julissa Bermudez started off the interview segment by making fun of Ronnie for wearing a dress, and asking Mike Sorrentino, 'Who was that tra**y?! What was up with that?!'" MTV has promised to edit the footage out of reruns and said in a statement, "The segment in question was certainly not meant to be insensitive, but in retrospect we realize that it was offensive to some viewers. We sincerely apologize." [GLAAD]

What will I call that gorgeous hot lady/man mess on the stage at my favorite gay club in Seoul (the one I didn't realize was a man until a revelation on a random Wednesday)? Transsexual is just soooo tedious to say.

Similes

I had my 12 year old write up similes.

Here are some samples:

The souffle was as light as an ostrich feather.

Lia's face is dark like the night sky.

Wedding Dress

I love this dress by Monique Lhuillier. Vera Wang to me is overrated because 9 out of her 10 dresses are strapless and so typical.

Although don't expect me to ever have this dress, it's 9g's.

God Hates Figs

I died at this sign.

Mark 11:12-14 says:
And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:
And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

Jesus totally hated figs people.

Christians that are against gays give real Christians a bad name. I used to be a god fearing Christian and the overall message I got from the Bible was that Jesus loved everyone from lepers to hoes to the crippled. There is an overall theme of loving the downtrodden, forgiving and not judging judging people no? Am I taking crazy pills?

I saw this exchange on facebook and it's spot on.

What am I a robin?!

So we have a stricter tutoring schedule for my 12 year old and she now has to stay until 9:30 every night and do extra vocab/writing exercises on top of her homework.

She says to me, "What am I? A robin?!"

"What? No, you are not a bird."

"You know those metal things that are machines."

"You mean, are you a robot?"

North Korea/South Korea family Reunion Breaks My Heart

I teared a little reading this.

The governments reunited some families who have not seen each other for 60 years. They have 3 days to enjoy eachother and will probably never see eachother again.

South Korean Shim Boon-rye, 80, smiled as she sang a folk song about longing for loved ones, but burst into tears as soon as she finished. She then embraced her 77-year-old brother of North Korean citizenship who sang along with her, "How could I forget you? How could I forget you?"

It breaks my heart.
